Soledade Umburana Cachaça is a distillation of pure sugarcane juice aged in amburana wood barrels. This tree also produces beans known as "false tonka beans." This type of wood imparts a silky texture and generous aromas of spices.
This cachaça makes a superb caipirinha, Brazil's emblematic cocktail. But you can also imagine this cachaça in a wide variety of blends.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is very round, and you're immediately caught up in a flight of gourmet spices. As usual, umburana delivers strong aromas of tonka bean and cinnamon. Everything seems very soft and cottony, and the plump cane is perfectly at home here.
Aeration brings the distillate of pure cane juice back to the fore. It's a rich, well-fermented eau-de-vie, with a touch of saltiness that comes close to a well-oiled olive tapenade and a few preserved lemons. The mellow botanicals generously pick up the profusion of tonka bean and cinnamon that keep coming through.
On the palate, it's the sugar cane that comes to the fore first. Its juice is soft, sunny, vegetal and mellow, with a sweet lime pulp. Pepper introduces a spicy, highly perfumed wave, in which tonka bean naturally takes center stage. Roundness is the order of the day throughout the tasting, and the spices know how to remain reasonable.
The finish is relatively light, with a hint of cinnamon and tonka powder.
"Umburana wood really develops spectacular aromas and will delight lovers of tonka bean..."
