Don Papa 10 years 43°: Description and customer reviews

Produced in a limited edition, Don Papa 10 ans is the fruit of a blend of several aged rums aged 10 years or more.
The molasses used to produce the rum comes exclusively from cane plants grown on theisland of Negros, guaranteeing smoothness and aromatic richness.

The beautiful dark amber color of Don Papa 10 ans comes from aging in American oak barrels that have been twice toasted. The absence of topping up accentuates the concentration of aromas.

Given the rarity of this rum, we limit purchases to 1 per order and per customer.

Nico's tasting notes

Summary: sweet - orange - coffee - berries - vanilla

On the nose, the rum is very thick and rich, like sweet molasses. Aromatically powerful, the nose is heady and loaded. It has a syrupy, sweet edge of banana and orange, like a syrup with cinnamon and other Christmas spices. One thinks of an orange liqueur that almost crystallizes on the rim of the glass.
When the liquid is passed over the rim of the glass, it's the molasses that spreads its caramel and coffee aromas, always with a very sweet sensation. With the coffee, we have a milk chocolate orangette, followed by some confectionery-style red fruit. The acidity also brings out fruit aromas such as maracuja and green banana. The spirit of a cottony liqueur asserts itself again with Christmas spices mingling with orange.

The entry is sweet and very round, with orange liqueur with spices and coffee. These spices tingle for a moment, but are quickly overtaken by a very fat wave of sugar and caramel. The midpalate is warm and intense, with red fruits, ginger and citrus. Thick, sweet vanilla soon fills the palate again, with a hint of exotic wood.

The finish retains the citrus flavors, grapefruit to be precise, and the vanilla is still very consistent and sweet.

If you like it, we recommend :

  • The younger version, with the same aromatic spirit...
  • Also very sweet, but in the English tradition, with slightly heavier aromas...
  • An atypical rhum agricole with notes of fruit: banana, passion fruit, mango...
  • A very popular Venezuelan rum, marked above all by caramel...
