El Dorado Port Mourant 2009 is a rum produced by the Diamond distillery in Guyana. The distillery is owned by Demerara Distillers Limited, which has no fewer than 9 different stills.
This rum showcases a single still from this distillery. It is a “single still” which uses the double wooden pot still bearing the name “Port Mourant”.
This distillation apparatus was transferred to the Uitvlugt distillery in 1968 and then to Diamond in 2000. The construction of this double pot still dates back to 1732. It is made of greenheart wood from the forests of English Guiana.
This is a molasses rum produced in 2009 that spent 12 years in ex-bourbon American oak barrels.
