Renegade Pre-Cask Westerhall Column Still is a pure sugarcane juice rum from the island of Grenada. It is produced in column at the Renegade distillery created by Mark Reynier, who is also the founder of Waterford.
The brand's aim is to highlight the island's terroir and the know-how of local producers, while being perfectly transparent about production methods.
The sugarcane variety used is called "Clean Ester," it is rich in sucrose, and it grows in a terroir known as Old River. The plantations are located between the coastal road and the mangrove swamps of Westerhall Bay, not far from the ruins of the distillery of the same name. The soils of this terroir retain moisture easily. Furthermore, they are enriched by the legacy of coconut and cacao trees. This makes it a fertile and verdant land, ideal for growing sugarcane.
