Takamaka Overproof White is a pot still agricultural rum. The sugar cane from which it is made is grown on Mahé, the largest island in the Seychelles.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, very light notes rise up the chimney of the glass. These are floral and finely fruity aromas, with alcohol that's hard to hide, as 69% is obligatory. There are also cane, or rather cane sugar, aromas and a fresh citrus zest.
The palate is far more aromatic than the nose would suggest. We're in the family of traditional English rums, bordering on Jamaican. In other words, we're caught up in a wave of sweet fruit that brings a pleasant warmth and a lovely oily texture. Despite this, the rum remains light, slipping quickly towards pepper and red fruits.
The finish arrives swiftly, the rum quickly loosening its grip and revealing hints of alcohol and tangy exotic fruit (lychee).
