Absolut

Absolut est une marque de vodka suédoise créée en 1979. Ses origines remontent à un siècle plus tôt, avec Lars Olsson Smith. Cet ingénieur est celui qui a introduit la distillation continue dans le pays. La vodka très pure qu’il avait alors élaborée était appelée « Absolut Rent Brävin ».
La marque Absolut a d’abord été lancée aux États-Unis. C’était un véritable challenge puisque la vodka était plutôt associée à la Russie ou à la Pologne, avec un design traditionnel. C’est justement le design sobre et l’originalité d’Absolut qui ont fait son succès. Des artistes de la pop-culture comme Andy Warhol ont enquite participé à en faire une marque iconique.

All production takes place within a 100 km radius of the town of Åhus, in Skåne, southern Sweden. The winter wheat comes from 338 farms in the area, and even the glass is sourced from a local company. The distillery produces a low environmental impact, and even prides itself on being Co2-neutral. Distillation effluents are reprocessed, and the remaining dry matter is used to feed pigs and cows on neighboring farms.

Absolut uses its own yeast for fermentation. It distills on large columns that purify the distillate as much as possible. It also has its own wells, which provide extremely pure dilution water.

The range consists of Absolut "blue" vodka, and several flavored declinations. Read less
