Shakara 12 years 45.7°: Description and customer reviews

Shakara 12 ans is a rum made in Thailand from local molasses. It is distilled in a column still and then aged entirely in Thailand's tropical climate.

This cuvée is aged for 12 years in oak barrels.

The name "Shakara" is a Sanskrit (Indo-European language) term referring to the South Asian origin of sugar cane.

Yoann's tasting notes

The nose of this rum reveals notes of dried fruits coated with creamy heather honey. A few small herbal and menthol notes mingle with almonds and nuts to bring a certain freshness. The delicacy of this nose is accompanied by a toasted coconut topped with vanilla cream.

With aeration, the nose takes on pastry accents to assert its gourmet side with at times a little milk chocolate side!

The entry in the mouth is fluid and comforting. A liquid cane sugar with timid notes of vanilla settles on the taste buds. This first contact brings out a little salted butter caramel side quite gourmand. A slight bitterness calls for a fine and very elegant woodiness. With a little time, we detect juicy tropical fruits that accompany the tasting, like mango or papaya. The bourbon barrel that brings the coconut is very present.

The finish is creamy with a coconut and vanilla edge. Floral notes stand out to recall the tropical side and sublimate the whole with finesse.

If you like it, we recommend :

  • a Thai rum made from pure cane juice, aged and bottled on site…
